Church History -The first Catholic Church in Rock Creek precinct was St. Patrick's. When the village of Davey was established, people wanted to move the catholic church to Davey. In 1901 the south faction bought the Methodist Church in Davey. The Church became known as St. Mary's. In 1909 a fire destroyed St. Patrick's Church so two lots were purchased across from the St. Mary's Church in Davey to construct a new parish. This was completed in 1910. Twelve years later in 1919 a fire destroyed the Church again. A new brick church was built in 1923 in the same place as were the church was destroyed. The two parishes then merged into what is now know as St. Mary's.

About St. Mary

Mary was born in Jeruselem and was the daughter of Joachim and Anne. Mary was without sin throughout her whole life. One day Mary was visited by St. Gabriel and he announced that Mary would be the Mother of Jesus Christ. She then was betrothed to St. Joseph. At this time Mary's cousin Elizabeth was bearing a son named John the Baptist. Mary and Joseph then went to Bethlehem where Mary gave birth to Jesus.
