We all know the story of Mary and her husband Joseph and how they were called by God to raise up Jesus. Mary received Jesus as a virgin as told by the archangel Gabriel. Joseph was going to "divorce" her quietly but an angel told him not to. Mary stayed with Jesus throughout her life but Joseph died before his Son. Joseph didn't get the right of being a saint just because he was a relative he earned it. Mary was taken up body and soul into Heaven and is the patron saint of many thing and has many different names that people coll her by but all are for the same Mary. Joseph was a carpenter all his life and is commonly know for holding tools in his icons or pictures. He is the patron saint of carpenters. Mary's birthday is September 8th and so Mary is commonly seen wearing blue since blue/ saphire is the birthstone of September.
