Cooler weather has arrived...and so have the typical fall/winter illnesses. We are seeing an increase in the number of children with fevers, sore throats and upper respiratory illness. I wanted to share a few reminders that will help the school meet your child's needs over the coming months:
- If your child needs to take medicine at school, please send the necessary supplies. This includes medicine
dosing cups, nebulizer tubing, etc. We do not have these items on hand for student use.
- Please send all medications to school in their original container with a pharmacy label (if it is a
prescription). Pharmacies may be able to split the prescription into two containers if you tell them you
need a "school" supply and a "home" supply.
- We are aware that some illnesses require an adjustment in your child's participation in PE/Recess. Your
child will need a note from a doctor if he/she needs to be excluded from PE for more than one day.
In most cases, children are at least able to walk during PE instead of sitting out the entire class. Please
consider this when writing notes regarding PE/recess.
- Handwashing is one way you can help prevent the spread of illness! In addition, please continue to talk
with your child about coughing into their elbow and disposing of used tissues in the trash can.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office (St. Wenceslaus 443-3336 / Neumann 443-4151) or email our School Nurse, Mrs. Hoven (linda-hoven@cdolinc.net)
